The Sweetest Thing

On Friday and Saturday nights, Morgan gets to sleep in Mason's room where they get to watch a movie before bedtime.  It's a tradition they have had for a couple of years.

Today I took Mason to the doctors and as it turns out, he has strep throat.  Mason has been isolated from Morgan for most of the day and since he wasn't feeling well, went to bed early.

We were in the front room playing with Morgan when the following conversation happened:

Morgan:  "When do I get to go into Mason's room?"

Me:  "Not tonight, sweetheart.  Mason is sick and we don't want you to get his sick germs."

Morgan:  "Well, then I'll just be sick so I can be with him."

Interesting...

Since I was a very young child I have had the same dentist.  I LOVED this dentist.  Back story:  When I was a teenager, my parent's insurance changed (I didn't understand the true pain of this until I became a grown up and carried my own insurance...grrr!).  I then had to switch to this "other" dentist that didn't know me from Adam...or rather, Eve.  As many of you can remember, I have very bad teeth...always have had.  So this dentist went to work on my teeth.  Apparently he didn't pay enough attention to what he was doing and let what I call "shrapnel" remain in a front tooth filling.  Forever ruining my smile. Now keep in mind I was a teenager and was afraid of confrontation.  I also was the typical teenager and wasn't thinking about my future.  I lived in the now, baby!

For years when I would smile, my friends would say, "You have something in your teeth."  Then I would have to explain the whole ordeal.  And good for them for bringing it up.  I would expect my friends to let me know if I had some sort of  "schlop" lingering around my teeth.     Have you ever gone home after hanging out with "friends" and you noticed you had something there and no-one said ANYTHING?  Not pleasant.  I think that should be one of the vows of new friendships.  "Do you promise to give me the, "you have food in your teeth sign" as long as we both shall live?" Okay veering off the point her.  Anyway, every new friend made... every new job started got the story.  It always embarrassed me and I was very self-conscience of it.

Now that I'm all grown up and have seen the errors of my ways, I have gone back to my child hood dentist.  No complaints!  Love him!  Well, 8 months ago I got an abscess in that tooth.  It's a shame I didn't take a picture.  My entire face was swollen.  Sure, it's funny NOW... but then, not so much!  Anyway, after a LOT of work the final piece was getting a cap on that tooth.  After 18-plus years I have a beautiful tooth.  I'm showing everyone!  I never knew how much confidence it would give me.  I'm so happy!!! I still have a lot more work to be done before I have the "super-model" smile, but hey!  This is one step 18 years in the making.  I realize dedicating an entire posting to one tooth is ridiculous. But apparently it doesn't take that much to make me happy.

Big "Woo-hoo!" send out to Dr. Silcox.  You rock man!!!

What gives?

I'm just sayin'... I'm not dead yet!

I always find that I have a ton of crap to say but always forget to post it.  So let's just dive right in shall we?  Who knew that at the ripe old age of 30 I would find myself having to deal with my parents divorce.  My parents have been married for 45 very long years.  They have been through births, deaths, marriages, surgeries, illnesses and even addictions together (yes that is an "s" at the end of addictions) .  It's interesting to see what will actually pull a family apart... especially MY family.  As most of you know, MY family puts the FUN in dysFUNctional!  We've been forced to deal with a large share of crap over the years.

The good news is that I have found a whole new respect for my mother.  She is the strongest woman I will ever know.  I could not imagine the pain she feels but she handles it with such grace.   She is an inspirational giant!  I love her so much for the woman she has become.

On a happier side of things, Twilight comes out this Saturday. Woo-hoo!  The cool thing with Jake's work is that we get to watch movies before they actually come out.  I've watched all the deleted and extended scenes and I would personally like to thank Summit Entertainment for keeping those scenes OUT of the movie... really... they did us a favor by not putting them in.  You know if I'M saying something negative about it, it MUST be pretty bad.  YIKES!

Happy watching!

Best hubby EVER!!!

So I just wanted to let everyone know that I have the best husband ever.  He surprised me at work yesterday to bring me flowers.  They were special because of many reasons:

1.  They were my favorite! Gerba daisies.  Red, orange yellow.  They are such happy flowers.  You can't NOT smile when you seen them.  They radiate happiness!

2. There was 1 yellow rose.  Let me explain.  Jake is a very sentimental hubby.  For those of  you that know our history, Jake and I were best friends at the ripe young age of 12!  The very first gift he ever gave me was a yellow rose.  Yellow because it's the friendship rose and I believe he gave it to me for my birthday.  Since we started dating, any time Jake has ever given me flowers, there has always been 1 yellow rose somewhere in the arrangement.  Having a hubby that remembers things like that is very... AMAZING to say the least. Hands off girls! He's mine!

3.  They were just because flowers. No reason at all. No fight, no hurting of feelings, no "Honey, I spent a large amount of money without telling you".  Honestly, he gives me "just because" flowers a lot.  I don't mean to brag... but I kind of do!   They always surprise me because he has the timing down between deliveries.  My employees and co-workers love/hate him.  I only smile when they say, "You got flowers AGAIN?  Jake spoils you...I wish MY husband would do that for me. You've got a good man."  I smile my biggest smile and only agree with them.  I'll take all the teasing that comes along with a good husband.

I left them at work. I'm there all the time. Why not enjoy them there where I can rub it in! But I realize that I'm an idiot and I forgot to take a picture of them to post.  I'll get one as soon as possible to show you!

It's not just because of the flowers.  This just reminded me that I don't say it as much as I should.  I love you so much Jake!  Thank you for being such a wonderful husband, father and friend!  You mean the world to me and thanks for knocking on my door some 18 years ago!!!
I've won the prize.  I got the best man I could have ever asked for!

Yikes!!

Wow! I always seem to find myself with a lot to say... except when blogging.  I had not realized how long it's been since I last made a comment.  I'm honestly shocked that someone did not call and ask to see if I was still alive.

So, you know when you're going along living life and everything is just hunky-dory then "BAM!" You see a picture of yourself and think, "Uh.... who's the fat lady standing with my husband?"  Well, this happend to me.  I've decided to take a stand against all those yummy foods that ALWAYS seem to jump out of the cupboard, follow me to the couch and cram themselves down my throat! I say no more!  You've had your fun with this gal, now move on to some of those 12 pound models that disgust us all!  I have never been great with sticking to my goal of  losing weight, so I figure if I let all of you know, then that will help me stick to it so that somewhere down the road I won't have to confess that I have done nothing to relieve myself from this shameful state.  So... here it goes!  Wish me luck!!

Alright! With that being said, I've got a serious life altering issue to discuss.   Which show do I drop???  The people at Fox and NBC have it out for me.  They have scheduled House and Heroes Monday nights at 8:00.  What am I to do?  I love them both!  Will Hiro Nakumura EVER get his powers back????  Will Cutty and House hook up???  I'm so confused.  Why can't they make a "Really-Good-Shows" network and play all the shows I love consecutivly so I won't have to miss a thing?  I would be a very big promoter for the RGS network.  If anyone has a truck-load of money to invest... we should talk!

Where do they get it from?

Okay!  Could someone PLEASE tell me where my children learn the things they do?!?!  Every day I look at them I think, "Where did they learn THAT?"  This includes the funny, smart and incredibly irritating things they do.  Oh, and speaking of making sounds that makes me want to rip my ears off and flush them down the toilet, WHAT'S WITH THE WHINING? I'm pretty sure they did not learn that from me OR Jake.  Now I consider myself a pretty understanding person and I would understand said outbursts if I said, "Hey kids! Would you mind too terribly if I make you eat bugs and sleep in the garbage?" But no...I'm only asking them to stop playing long enough to eat or take a bath when these...."tissy-fits" begin.  What gives?!

On the opposite side of things, they are FAR smarter than me!  Morgan just turned 4 and she's helping Mason with his homework.  She's picks out small words in the books we read before I can get to them.  The other day Mason asked me why it's called "shoes and socks" when we put the socks on first.  My very sophisticated reply was, "......Uh...."  Although they ask a ton of questions, I love listening to the way they think and process new things.  I love the innocence of their little minds..

On to the funny side of things.  This one I DO know where they learn it.  Morgan LOVES to play hair. More importantly, she loves to play with MY hair.  During this time she likes to be Mommy while I play Morgan. She was trying to put my hair into 3 or 4 pony tails when she said, "Morgan! Hold your head still!  You're drivin' me nuts!" In my defense, my head was perfectly still.  Apparently, she thinks playing the role of "Mommy" is to be short tempered and mouthy.  Note: learning lesson for mom.

Anyway, I love my kids so stinking much.  But where the crap do they learn the things they do?!

Introduction

So at the numerous requests of my friends (and recent blogger hubby, Jake), I have decided to CAVE and create a blog.  I must admit, that I am not so good at the "computer" thing, so I cannot guarantee anything spectacular...so no comments from the peanut gallery!
As you can tell from my title, I am a huge movie fan.  One would think that I would eventually tire from watching hours and hours of cinematic adventures but I just can't bring myself  to stop.  Some of my favorites are Clue, Pride and Prejudice, National Treasure and HELLO.... Princess Bride anyone???
Another obsession I have is the Twilight saga.  And yes....I am "one of THOSE" people.  I received the first book last Christmas from Jake. Had he known what he was creating he probably would have buried the book in concrete and dropped in the ocean... if only we LIVED near the ocean.  I've read the series far too many times to count, listened to them on my iPod more times that I will ever admit and seen the movie.....well let's just say I'm still counting!  My entire family and friends know of the obsession and understand that I am beyond help.  They just roll their eyes and tell my I'm helpless when the topic comes up.  I have even turned my children.  I was a very proud "Twilight Mom" when my children started playing "Edward and Bella" the other day.  Mason keeps asking me when I'll take him to see the "vampire movie". In that he's almost 6 he'll just have to wait a bit longer. I am anxiously waiting for the next movie to be released...but I will have to calmly wait until they at least start to film it.  I know I'm a loser and need help, but I I enjoy it way too much!
Anyway, please be forgiving with this blog as it will pale in comparison to all the others! Have a lovely evening and thanks for your friendships!! =)
